Day 1 - Mumbai |

Arrive Bombay. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. Morning at leisure. Afternoon, city tour of Bombay, visiting Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum (Museum is closed on Mondays) Jain temple, Hanging Garden on the Slopes of Malabar Hills offering nice view of Marine Lines and Chowpatty Beach, Kamla Nehru park, Mani Bhawan, (where Mahatma Gandhi used to stay) then to Dhobi Ghat, also drive past Afghan Church, Flora Fountain, colourful Crawford market and Marine Drive. Evening, visit Gate of Mercy Synagogue or Juni Masjid Till 1896. The street on which the Synagogue stands was named Samaji Street in Hiss Hono and is at present known as Samuel street. The Synagogue celebrated its centenary in the year 1896 and on that occasion it was renamed “SHAAR-HA-RAHAMIM”. Overnight at the hotel. |

Afternoon, City tour of Pune, known as the “Queen of the Deccan” with its salubrious climate and setting among the Hills. Once the capital of the Maratha Empire, then of the Peshwas, the city passed into English Hands in 1818 who developed it into an army Town with a distinct English flavour. Morning, visit Ohel David Synagogue, established in 1867 and popularly known as “LAL DEWAL”. It is a handsome red brick building with a 90 feet tower to the north of the entrance porch carrying a chiming clock and surmounted by a spire. Also visit Succath Shelmo Synagogue established in 1921, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1919. Evening transfer to the Railway Station to board train for Bombay. Visit Knesseth Eliahod Synagogue, established in 1884 and was built and endowed by Mr. Jacob Sasson in memory of his father. It is popularly known as Fort Jewish Synagogue. Morning, city tour of Ahmedabad, founded in 1411 by Ahmed Shah and by the year 1600 AD Ahmedabad was considered to be the finest city in India until Delhi arose. Later visit magen Abraham Synagogue established in 1933 by Dr. Solomon Abraham Erulkar. Overnight at the hotel. |

Morning, city tour of Old and New Delhi visiting Qutab Minar, India gate (War Memorial Arch), and Lakshminarayan temple (a modern Hindu Temple). Drive past Presidents House, Parliament House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place - the shopping centre of New Delhi . Also drive past Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, Raj Ghat and Shanti vana - the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru and Chandni Chowk, the shopping centre of Old Delhi. Afternoon, visit Judah Hyam Hall established in 1956. Before World War II, the small Delhi Jewish Community used to hold prayers at the house of one of them in Baratooti, Sadar bazaar in the Old city. During the war and thereafter, more Indian Jews came to Delhi and prayers for the high holidays used to be held in the house of Mr. Baruch B. Benjamin, the First President of the Jewish Welfare Association, New Delhi . the hall also serves as a centre for Jewish and interfaith studies. Overnight at the hotel. |
Day 8 - DELHI / CALCUTTA |

Afternoon, visit Neveh Shalome Synagogue established in 1825, the first Synagogue in Calcutta and rebuilt in 1911. Also visit Magen David Synagogue, built by Mr. Elias David Joseph Esra to perpetuate the memory of his father, Mr. David Joseph Ezra who died in 1882. This is the largest Synagogue in the east. Full day city tour of Madras visiting Fort St. George and St. Mary's Church built by the British East India Company in 1653. A Church within the Fort was consecrated in 1680. Morning transfer to the airport to board flight for Cochin. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. Afternoon, visit Jew Town and the Pardesi Synagogue. This Synagogue was built by Samuel castiel, David Belila, Ephrahim Sala and Joseph Levi. It stands on the grounds of the Maharaja overlooking the Hindu Shrine and demonstrating the cordial relations of the Jews with the people of Kerala. This is the first Synagogue which came into existence in the commonwealth and is one of the oldest in the world. Overnight at the hotel. |
